This Day, 17 June 2021
This evening the television screen is split into two programmes. MSNBC’s The 11th Hour hosted by Brian Williams and Tampa Bay in Seattle playing the Mariners. I like The 11th Hour because Williams understates the news with evident humour. The cable news restates the obvious political partisanship, and in a week, the questions and replies repeat hour after hour. So I watched the Mariners game — and I am a Mariners fan.
Baseball has a routine that repeats and does not repeat within each game. The sun comes up, and the sun goes down. Each game and each day is new.
Just now, it’s the bottom of the 9th inning, no outs, and the Mariners are behind one point. The Mariners win 6–5 with Kyle Seager at-bat. Far better than the cable news. The day ends, and the day begins.
