General Thoughts #1

I’ve been wanting to combine my entire self in my writing. By that, I mean the thoughts and actions I go through each day: Diane and the girls and grandkids and the home and communities where we live. What does it mean to actually live as a Franciscan? How is it possible to approach each moment of our life loving and caring for and grieving for the world’s loss? Clearly, this is possible, or Jesus, who is the Christ, would not have entered our lives.

The Irish priest and poet John O’Donoghue mentioned the German Christian mystic Eckhart, who said that the soul is not in the body, but the body is in the soul. In the following day or two, this led me to actually visualize three people that I was looking at as being enveloped in a warm and soft transparent texturized Spirit. From that vantage point, for a moment, I had compassion of loving the individuals as carried and created by the Spirit of God. I could actually see three people in spirit.
